General
Printing at Free Geek is handled by CUPS directed to physical printers. Printers are either network attached with a central server acting as a catalog or they are directly attached to terminal machines with CUPS auto discovery sharing them out.
Current Printers
Mezzanine
Location | Under the phone desk |
---|---|
Connection | Network (10.0.5.54) |
URL | ipp://10.0.5.35:631/printers/Mezzanine |
Notes | Large images tend to not work, and some complex documents. For complex documents first printing/converting to a post script file then printing the post script tends to work. The network settings don't handle subnetting correctly so only hosts on it's local network can talk directly. |
Cave
Location | Cave against north wall |
---|---|
Connection | USB to North terminal |
URL | varies (should auto detect) |
Notes | The machine on the north desk needs to be on for this printer to be usable. |
