Stations are the different areas of Free Geek that you can work at when you volunteer there, these stations range from sorting incoming donations, testing equipment and building machines. All the stations are unique and are essential to Free Geek's operations. This article contains brief paragraphs about the stations and links to their main articles. The purpose of this page is to make the wiki more user-friendly.

Receiving

See full article and instructions here: (Receiving)

Receiving is one of the easiest stations that Free Geek has to offer and is great for newcomers, it gives volunteers a glimpse of what Free Geek does by having the Volunteers sort incoming donations for use in other stations. Without the receiving station, Free Geek would not be able to properly recycle it's equipment.

Testing

Cellphone Testing

See full article and instructions here: (Cellphone Sorting)

Cellphone testing consists of several parts. Volunteers must wipe all of the previous owner's data, that includes taking out and destroying the SIM card if it is still in the Cellphone, and they must test the features of the Cellphone to make sure that it's functions work as advertised. Volunteers at Cellphone Testing should not be worried about checking the phone's physical features or make as that should be done in Receiving. This station is good for newcomers as there is not too much technical-knowledge needed to do this station.

Monitor Testing

See full article and instructions here: (Monitor)

Monitor testing is a longer station as there is a waiting test for the monitors, however, it is possible to do many of them at a time and you do not need to stay with them when they are doing the waiting test so you can leave to work on another station as you wait for this one to complete. This station is easy for newcomers to do and is often coupled with Receiving and Speaker testing and they are all next to each other.
