Busy reporters will appreciate being able to access this information easily.

Free Geek is a nonprofit community organisation that reduces the environmental impact of waste electronics by reusing and recycling donated technology. Through community engagement we provide education, job skills training, Internet access and free or low cost computers to the public.

Free Geek Vancouver began from humble beginnings in a basement in East Vancouver during 2005. It is now a bustling community of over 3000 volunteers with 40 tons of equipment coming in every month. Our warehouse and thrift store is on three levels, with free parking and secure bike parking. In the last four years we have given out over 600 computer systems and put on over 700 hours of free workshops for our community.

Free Geek Vancouver runs a highly successful volunteer program which has seen over 300 volunteers earn a free computer after 24 hours of volunteering. We have trained more than 150 volunteers to refurbish computers and given out hundreds of those to neighborhood non-profit organizations through our Hardware Grants program.

Our computer thrift store is a hub for Vancouver's fully fledged geeks and aspiring geeks alike to pick up low cost computer essentials and fun gadgets.
