Minutes of the Free Geek Vancouver Directors' meeting held on Monday April 24th, 2017, 6:30pm at the Free Geek Vancouver Facility

Call To Order

Meeting commenced at 6:40, Jonathan facilitating and taking minutes

Previous Minutes

Minutes of previous meeting March 16th, 2017 were adopted unanimously without changes

Matters Arising from Previous Minutes

Vancity / Propeller

Proposal and agreement concluded for unconditional $10K and grant of $10K. Anticipating the arrival of the money.

Bob from Propeller to talk to George, Cindy and Nigel over the week.

Marketing Strategy Progess

George has updated the 2013 progress for 2017.

A committee of board and staff is being formed to work on the marketing strategy. Cori to facilitate.

A target market could be Property Managers of Professional Commercial buildings. This is part of The Hackery's strategy. George has submitted proposals to some Property Managers that he knows, awaiting outcome.

How does FGV distinguish itself from its competition?

Mills Basic Relationship

We are aware that Mills has made some pick ups, but the board does not know if any deliveries of donated computers has been made.

Zero Waste Council

Nigel proceeding with developing this relationship.

Laptop Art Project

On Friday laptops will be displayed in a small shop front in Gastown for an exhibition event. Event was advertised in Georgia Straight.

City of Vancouver Recycling Events

Dunbar recycling event on Apr 22nd was a great success despite the challenges setting up and getting going and the rain. Much was learned in becoming better at these events. Nigel conservatively estimates we received ~$7K in equipment.

Next recycling event at Sunset Community Centre, 2500 Franklin St, Vancouver.

Charitable Status

Establishing charitable status is in process with Nigel.

Financial Report

Nigel cleared up the confusion over the forecasting numbers encountered at the Staff/ Board meeting.

March numbers have not been received from the accountant so there was nothing to report for March.

New Business

Eco Fees Beneficiary

Rex and George to look into FGV becoming a beneficiary of the Eco fees that the Provincial Government collects.

Initiation of Marketing Strategy

George is going to spearhead the implementation of FGV's marketing strategy.
