New Business

Store Pricing

Proposals:

  • Need to set one price that staff can agree on. If a customer has been told a price, other staff should avoid arguing about it in front of the customer.
  • LCD and Customer packages, and multiple items will be discounted, perhaps 10% at most.

Discussion:

  • Must reduce conflict or debate in the store in front of customers.
  • Reduce customer confusion regarding pricing. Re-print whiteboard, post on FGWiki, more price labeling (bins).
  • Gauge customer reaction to pricing.
  • FG prices are “the best we can do”. Prices set by market value in Vancouver, and by the volume of what is delivered to FG.
  • A price can be affected by the volume they are purchasing.
  • ?Decision to make Ubuntu CD's free or by donation?
  • ?Decision to stop charging for hard drives with Ubuntu pre-installed?

Cave Access

Proposals:

  • Only staff and directors will be allowed, and there will be a new lock to control that access.
  • Need to discuss the holding period for staff and volunteers.
  • Holding only for self use, i.e. no holding for another person.
  • Need to clean up held items. Move back to store inventory the next day.

Discussion:

  • ?Decision on designated people permitted access to cave?
  • Decision to clean up cave. ?Group effort to identify infrastructure items and ensure other important items are not lost?
  • ?Decision about holding period for volunteers to be until the end of the day?
  • ?Decision about holding period for phone-ins to be time limited or until the end of the day?
  • ?Decision about designating a holding area and labeling held items?

Volunteer discount clarification (re: LCDs and laptops)

Proposals:

  • Everyone has to check hours to make sure volunteer is eligible for using discount.
  • LCD and laptops are not discount eligible items.
  • Store discount policy is enforced by the store coordinator only.

Discussion:

  • Volunteer must prove hours.
  • Current discount is 40% after 12 hours of volunteering within the last 90 days.
  • Possibility of 10% discount on LCDs and laptops (future?).
  • The volunteer discount is a privilege. Reselling is be discouraged.

Store Organization

Proposals:

  • No customer should go up to the build stations, or in the warehouse to request anything they want; a volunteer must assist.
  • Build stations should reject any parts requested by a customer, and tell them to contact the store coordinator.
  • When parts are available, a volunteer or store coordinator will transfer the parts, not the customer.
  • Volunteers are not allowed to go through untested items and claim them for free. Scrap has value to FG.
  • All volunteers should sign in for helping in the store, they shouldn't just float around.

Discussion:

  • None, ran out of time.

Stock

  • For out of stock items, check with build coordinator.
  • Every stock is first-come-first-serve, unless the customer promises to pick it up within an hour.
  • If stock is needed from the warehouse or build station, a volunteer is tasked with fetching it.
  • No one can pick up store items for someone else, unless checklist or the store coordinator is notified.
  • Customer, staff, or volunteer not willing to pay for the set price must put the item down, and not walk away with the items with insufficient amount.

Discussion:

  • None, ran out of time.

  • RAM: 512MB-1GB DDR and SD for desktops
  • Processors: Intel P4 and AMD Socket 939
  • Motherboards: Socket 939
