Haiku How-To

A haiku is a Japanese non-rhyming poem with a set rhythm. When written in English, it's 3 lines long, with the first line limited to 5 syllables, the second 7, and the last line 5 syllables again. [Note on syllables: the word 'apple' when spoken has two syllables ("ap-ple"), while 'bicycle' has three ("bi-cy-cle"). 'Green' only has one.]

Traditionally haiku contain a reference to the seasons or nature. [Note: the plural of haiku is haiku.]

Example by Ifny:

We listen to beeps
Watch the sunset, push buttons
Another day done.

Anytime Haiku

Feel free to add your own Haiku to the collection. Leave name or no.

AGM 2008 Haiku

For our 2008 AGM we started off with a warm up exercise to get the brain juices flowing. We all had the chance to write one haiku or more with our neighbour.

The results are below.
